Building a Spaceship out of a Dryer

So I’ve posted some stills pulled from dailies from my recent film, Mnemosyne Rising.  I’ve had quite a few people ask, “How the hell did you build a spaceship on no budget?”  Here’s the answer: scavenge.  Nearly everything we used we either  picked up on the cheap from surplus auctions at the University, found for free on Craigslist, or took from trash piles.  All our walls are actually painted 4x8 foot political signs.  No kidding, there’s a hell of a lot of ELECT SHERYL COLE on the back end of of our ship.  We bought a light table for $5 then rigged it with eleven fluoroescent tubes we got for another $5.  There’s a dryer we pulled apart and made into a telescope-like thingamajig.  Granted, we had to pay for lumber and nails, screws, etc, but compared to what we thought it would cost, we made out like bandits…
